INTERNAL VACANCY
York Learning are looking for a part time Engagement, Learner and Course Co-ordinator. This post will have a combination of responsibilities across the wider community learning offer and our Counselling programme.


Reporting to the Operations Manager/Centre Co-ordinator and Counselling Curriculum Manager, and working closely with multiple teams, you will be responsible for engaging with learners to help them understand the courses on offer, enrol them onto a course and advise them of the funding mechanisms available depending on their personal financial circumstances and previous learning experiences.


You will provide a front line customer, information and enrolment service to potential learners, service users, clients, and other visitors to refer potential service users to appropriate programmes, courses and progression routes across the whole service.

You will provide other appropriate administrative support including financial transactions.


You will coordinate the day-to-day administrative demands of the identified programme areas and provide information, advice and guidance to learners on course options and funding.

This post will be partly based at Huntington School as well as West Offices.

You will also be expected to:

  • Ensure the quality and standard of output is maintained, handled and quality assessed.
  • Give innovative ideas to process transformation.
  • Engage with internal and external parties to validate information and or processes where appropriate
  • Be part of the examination processes and the accurate registration of learners

We would like to hear from people with:

  • An understanding for the Community learning landscape
  • An understanding of Counselling CPCAB awarding organisation
  • Previous experience in a role of learner engagement and data administration is preferred.
  • Good communication skills
  • Ability to maintain high accuracy standards while handling personal work levels
  • Ability to prioritise and work optimally under pressure
  • Sound demonstrable understanding of Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint
  • A Grade 4/C in Maths and English is required for this role
  • An understanding of the FE funding landscape (desirable)


As this role is public facing, applicants will need to demonstrate, at interview, their competency to converse and provide advice and guidance to members of the public, in spoken English to CEFR level C2: Can express him/herself spontaneously at length with a natural conversational flow, avoiding or backtracking around any difficulty so smoothly that the person with whom they are conversing is hardly aware of it.

Hybrid working arrangements are available for this role.

Each role at CYC is different and your working arrangements will be determined based on the requirements of the role and in collaboration with you and your needs as part of the recruitment process.

Your contractual location will be the designated council office for your team.
