The Company:


Tangmere Airfield Nurseries Ltd is a leading grower and direct supplier to the major UK supermarkets, based near the market town of Chichester in West Sussex, with further large areas of glass in Spain.


Purpose of the Role:


Key Responsibilities

What you'll be doing:


  • Manage and motivate a team of production operatives to fulfil daily customer orders efficiently, meet specifications and maintain health and safety requirements.
  • Carry out safety checks to ensure machinery is in good and safe working condition, completing relevant check sheets at the start and end of each shift.
  • Liaise with the Shift Manager to set the production line according to customer specifications.
  • Complete startup checks before production commences, adhering to production procedures and other relevant check sheets.
  • Ensure all packaging from previous production runs is removed to the correct area and machinery is regularly cleaned.
  • Conduct quality checks to ensure all packed produce meets quality, label, and packaging requirements.
  • Complete digital work orders, achieve KPIs, and ensure the production line is cleaned regularly and closed down properly at the end of each shift.
  • Report operating issues to maintenance in a timely manner and complete relevant documentation accurately and on time.
  • Support training for new line leaders and assist Production Shift Managers and Production Supervisors with recruitment when required.
  • Fully participate in the development and achievement of the Packhouse Vision.

About You

Requirements:


  • Experience in a similar role within Fresh Produce/Food Production/FMCG environment is desirable.
  • Ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines, and maintain a positive attitude.
  • Ability to work independently and complete assignments within prescribed routines and standard accepted practices.
  • Flexible approach to work and experience with packing machinery would be an advantage.
  • Approachable individual with a cando attitude, actively encouraging subordinates to contribute to the team's success.

Job Types:
Full-time, Temporary contract, Fixed term contract

Contract length: 5 months


Pay:
From £12.61 per hour


Expected hours:
No more than 48 per week
