Description

The primary function of this role is to support the Visitor Services and Visitor Engagement departments, as well as to cover events at the National Gallery site.


Visitor Engagement

  • Proactively engage with visitors as an Ambassador of the Gallery be committed to having a good knowledge of the permanent collection, temporary exhibitions/displays and events.
  • Ensure all visitor queries are responded to with an 'above and beyond' approach to ensure a successful and positive visit.
  • Engage with visitors on the benefits of the Gallery Membership scheme.
  • Cash Handling and
  • Cloakroom duties (including using till register)
  • Provide ticketscanning and queue management function, whilst also providing a warm welcome to exhibitions.

Visitor Services
***- Invigilate Gallery spaces, ensuring the safety and security of the national collection.

  • Respond to alarms and incidents appropriately by following the site escalation procedure as detailed in the Assignment Instructions.
  • Report suspicious behaviour and escalate concerns to
  • Ensuring all visitors are warmly welcomed to the Gallery, from the point of entry queue to their exit.
  • To be able to deescalate visitor complaints.
  • All officers must be flexible and adhere to any reasonable instruction from a manager to aid the overall operational service delivery.

Additionally -

  • Display the highest standard of personal presentation and smartness of uniform to maintain the image of Securitas and the customer.
  • Ensure health and safety procedures are always followed. Record and report all faults, health and safety hazards and unsafe working practices to supervisor/manager.
  • Ensuring evacuation process and daily opening/closing procedures are followed.
Invigilate gallery spaces during events that might take place out of business hours.

Essential Skills:


  • Must have a valid frontline SIA license.
  • Must have the right to work in the UK.
  • Must be over 1
  • Have a fiveyear checkable employment history or be able to produce documentary evidence of any period of unemployment, selfemployment or full and parttime education during that period.
  • No current criminal convictions.
  • Be able to work independently as well as part of a team.
  • Be punctual and reliable.
  • You must be physically fit; be able/capable of standing for the duration of the shift.

Desired Skills:


  • Prior experience working of working in a visitor/customerfacing environment (Culture sector preferable)
