Join a great team supporting local older people.
Age UK Richmond upon Thames are a local independent charity providing support for older people throughout the London Borough of Richmond upon Thames.
Our wide range of services have a positive and long-lasting impact on the health and wellbeing of local older people.
We currently have an excellent opportunity for a peer support worker to join our team which will be providing peer support in the community to adults aged years of age who are currently accessing mental health support or have done so in the past.
You will have your own lived experience of mental health issues and/or caring and be able to use this experience to support others.
This is a great opportunity to join us at the start of this new project.
The Peer Support Worker will have their own caseload and deliver a wide range of support and person-centred interventions to meet these needs, which could include peer led interventions, group support, one to one interventions and signposting where specialist advice is needed.
We are looking for individuals who are passionate about motivating and coaching individuals with mental health issues, and able to support people on their journey to recovery.
As well as having an empathy with the core values of Age UK Richmond, the successful applicants will have the skills to provide person-centred support, through one-to-one sessions and through facilitating groups.
You will have an awareness of the boundaries we work within when supporting vulnerable adults. You should be enthusiastic and self-motivated and must be able to work on your own initiative.
This is a partnership project with South West London St George's Mental Health Trust (SWLStG), locally led by Richmond Borough Mind.
