This is an exciting opportunity to join the resuscitation training department.

This is fixed term contract until November 2023 and would suit someone with a keen interest in resuscitation training who would like to develop their skills and experience in this field of practice.


You should have some experience of delivering resuscitation training and be able to demonstrate a keen interest and understanding of contemporary issues within resuscitation.

You will be given opportunities to further develop and gain knowledge in both adult and paediatric resuscitation.

The Resuscitation Officer will assist in assessing the training needs of the multidisciplinary workforce of Milton Keynes University Hospital.

The post holder will primarily be responsible for the facilitation and delivery of resuscitation training and will assist in implementing and maintaining a robust resuscitation service which includes the provision of simulation, education, maintenance of resuscitation training equipment and audit across the Trust.

The post holder will be expected to facilitate and deliver the teaching of both adult and paediatric resuscitation.

The post holder will act independently in line with Trust policies and procedures and will work without direct supervision. They will be accountable for their own professional actions, referring to their manager, as necessary.

Education and Training

  • To participate in the delivery of Basic Life Support, Immediate Life Support and Paediatric Immediate Life Support and assist in the delivery of Advanced Life Support training courses
  • To ensure maintenance of accurate training record
Clinical

  • To provide specialist advice and teaching on the assessment and management of the acutely ill patient in clinical situations
  • To attend where possible cardiac arrests within the hospital and act as an active member of the cardiac arrest team whilst operating within own scope of practice, swiftly assessing, and interpreting the needs of the patient in order to provide highquality emergency interventions.
Research, Audit and Development

  • To assist with data collection of the National Cardiac Arrest Audit
  • To assist with internal audits on cardiac arrest activity
  • To assist in the investigation of incidents related to resuscitation
  • To make regular checks and audit on the cardiac arrest trolleys to ensure they are appropriately stocked and checked
Personal and Professional Development

  • To take responsibility of own professional development, ensuring that you develop within the role
  • To ensure that they are up to date with any new developments, recommendations or guidelines and are competent in the skills that they are expected to provide
  • To provide support and advice within the scope of their professional practice
  • To always promote a positive and professional image
  • Support the implementation and updating of new information, guidelines and policies and procedures.
