We are reaching an exciting time in our development and have an opportunity for a Kitchen Assistant (working 35 hours per week) to join our new acquisition at Grey Ferrers in Braunstone.

We are looking for someone who has a positive, patient and flexible attitude along with excellent kitchen skills and a passion for engaging with working age or older adults with dementia and associated conditions.

You will be required to prepare and serve meals that meet individual needs, ensuring that you always maintain and respect their dignity.

Together with encouraging people's nutritional independence.

Ensuring the general day to day activities of the kitchen and dining room are efficient and meet all regulatory and statutory requirements.

Skills, knowledge and qualifications required:

Good basic education, willing to undertake NVQ training;
Experience with people who have mental health and complex care needs;
Selfmotivated, organised and takes pride in your work;
An active team player and able to work on your own initiative under supervision or to lead others;
The ability to communicate effectively, at all levels and give accurate information when required;
Be registered on the Vetting and Barring Scheme and be in receipt of an acceptable enhanced DBS and SOVA adult first check.
Honesty, consideration, empathy and patience.

Desired:

A flexible approach to working patterns and role;
To support other individuals within the kitchen when necessary and cover their role in cases of emergency;
Willingness to undergo further extensive training to improve knowledge and care standards within the home;
To assist in maintaining suitable levels of stock and deliveries.

It is an expectation of all staff to have vaccines or other essential health treatments, in line with Public Health guidelines and in relation to health and safety in an effort to protect yourself as well as others.
