Description

An exciting opportunity to play a core role in the re-launch and operation of the Ragged School Museum as part of a National Lottery Heritage Fund (NLFH) project.

The Ragged School Museum is at an exciting stage in its history nearing the completion of a major National Lottery Heritage Fund project.

The Museum, is a landmark of Victorian philanthropy combining two important national stories. One is the struggle for free universal primary education through the Ragged School Union.

The Museum is the only former school open to the public which can narrate this story in an authentic building.

The second history is the wide ranging philanthropy of Dr Barnardo Copperfield Road, is the only substantial building associated with his work to survive in the East End.

The Blitz and extensive redevelopment of the area means that very few fragments remain to represent the story of impoverished Londoners in the nineteenth-century.

The Museum Administrator will be in charge of all day-to-day administrative tasks in support of the museum's operations.

You will manage the bookings for the learning activities and commercial and community hire and assist where necessary with front of house services including visitor reception, shop and volunteers.

You will be integrating into a small inter-disciplinary team and reporting to the Museum Director and the Learning & Cultural Programmes Officer.

This is a part time position (18 hours per week) which can be arranged flexibly and to include some weekend and evening work.
