An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated person to assist Medical Examiners and the Lead Medical Examiner Officer in the delivery of the Medical Examiner Service hosted by the trust.


We are seeking to appoint Medical Examiner Officer (MEO) Clinical Band 7, who is a committed and well organised individual to take leadership and management responsibility for the operation and continuous evaluation of the Independent Medical Examiner Service hosted by the Trust' alongside our existing Lead MEO Band 7.


In this a challenging post, the post holder will be required to handle a diverse workload and demonstrate a proficiency in prioritising work schedules, working autonomously to support the Medical Examiners Service in the scrutiny of the cause of death of deceased patients.


The postholder will work across all the Trust's hospital sites and non-acute healthcare providers to ensure smooth and compassionate delivery of complex and sensitive support for bereaved families, carers and support to trust colleagues and external stakeholders relation to completion of the Medical Certificate of Cause of Death (MCCD), or referral to the Coroners Service.


It is essential that the service continues provide that highest standard of care of bereaved, angry, highly emotional, and occasionally hostile relatives.

The nature of the post requires the post holder to convey complex information in a clear, concise and appropriate manner.
