About us
We are Under the Trees, an outdoor education charity based near Falkirk, Scotland.

We are expanding our volunteering programme and are looking for people who want to get involved in outdoor work, education, and/or working with children We aim to provide an enriching volunteering experience and we offer our volunteers in-house training, incentives, personal development plans and a dedicated Volunteer Development Officer to assist you during your time with us.

We want to help you build on your skills and develop new ones to take you on your next step in employment, study, or just for your own personal satisfaction.

Our Outdoor Education Assistant role is varied and includes helping our experienced staff to deliver play, school, weekend events and birthday parties.

It's a great opportunity to develop new outdoor learning and 'Play Ranger' skills, including designing and delivering outdoor activities for all ages.

We work on-site in locations around the Falkirk and Stirling areas, such as Muiravonside Country Park and Callender Park.

A typical volunteering day might include helping staff set up a session (hoisting swings up on to trees, setting up hammocks and slacklines, placing play items around a forested area), communicating with participants and their families and showing them how to engage with any of the activities on the session, and then packing down the session.

Opportunities also exist within this role to support desk-based activities in our wider education and training projects which we deliver to local communities


This includes:

• Supporting the ongoing management of our school support packages.
• Supporting the development of our online teacher training/support products.
• Supporting the development of a new 'membership' package for schools.
• Supporting the development and rollout of online learning packages related to school groups, uniformed organisations, and families.

We are mainly looking for volunteers between the age of 16-25 due to funding requirements.

As most of our activities are outdoor-based, we need people who are reasonably fit and willing to work outdoors in all weathers and seasons.

However, there are also our desk-based opportunities available too.

We would like people who are friendly, communicative, flexible, and who desire to use their skills and learn new ones.
