Description

The Dorset Integrated Care Board (ICB) is developing its data science capabilities and this role is responsible for operational management and delivery of a data science function across Dorset Integrated Care System (ICS).

The Head of Data Science is responsible for developing a team of expert analysts capable of using technical methods and infrastructures (e.g. statistics, data science, epidemiology, operational research, econometrics etc) to structure and answer specific strategic business questions.

The Head of Data Science will be responsible for shaping and delivering the data science strategy for the whole of Dorset ICS, working with our partner trusts, councils, other public services, voluntary sector and academic institutions to ensure it is using data to drive better decisions, better care and better value for our population.

This role provides the opportunity to be part of a change to the way we deliver health and care services in Dorset ICS; we need a greater focus on prevention, reducing health inequalities by providing equitable access, outcomes and experience, joining up pathways for the benefit of the users and ensuring care is delivered by the right person, in the right place at the right time.

Population Health Management is key to this approach; we need to ensure we have the correct data sets, use all the data we have available well and adopt a data driven approach to planning and delivery of health and care.

The post holder is responsible to the Deputy Director of Data and Analytics for the leadership of the Dorset Intelligence & Insight Service (DiiS) and its ongoing service to programmes and teams throughout the ICB and ICS.

The postholder will work with other ICB Senior Managers to embed an evidence based, high quality decision culture by increasing data literacy and widening the use of data and analytics.
