We are best known today for the marketing of our Esso fuels and Mobil 1 lubricants and for our petrochemicals.

We have refining and chemical operations in the UK, we operate the UK's biggest private pipeline network and we retain a non-operated share in a number of fields in the North Sea.

More recently, we are developing our involvement in lower emission projects in the UK, building on our experience in carbon capture and storage (CCS), hydrogen production and biofuels.


ExxonMobil's Global Trading (EMGT) brings together our trading expertise from across the Corporation into a single, Centralized Organization to deliver industry-leading results by more fully leveraging our competitive advantages, our understanding of global energy markets, and our advantaged global asset portfolio.

The EMGT organization includes global crude, products and feedstocks, gas and power and freight trading activities. Harmonized business development, origination, analytics, and enablement activities allow EMGT to leverage scale and best practices. Our objective is to deliver on our corporate strategy by more effectively responding to market volatility, creating incremental earnings for our Businesses and, ultimately, growing value for all our stakeholders


What role you will play in our team:
We are now recruiting for our 2024 Industrial Placement Programme. We are seeking exceptional people who we can empower to think independently, take initiative and be innovative.


What you will do:


You could find yourself, for example, in the Trading Analytics team performing market analysis for a commodity that includes using proprietary and third-party data to assist trading decision making.

Or you could be supporting our trading teams in the areas of risk management, crude oil optimization or freight operations.


Whichever team you are in, you'll have real responsibility from day one and we'll provide a supportive, exciting learning environment, where you can develop a solid foundation of professional skills.

The first month of your placement will set you up for success with a comprehensive induction.

You'll have the chance to experience working in a large scale global trading organisation first hand to grow foundational trading skills and experience.


As your placement progresses you'll have opportunity to seek out and take on special projects that advance both the business and your personal development.


About you:


To be eligible for this role, you must:

  • Be in the penultimate year of your degree course.
  • Be seeking to gain work experience on a 13 month paid Industrial Placement commencing in July 2024.
  • Be able to demonstrate:
  • Outstanding analytical, numerical and problem solving skills
  • A strong attention to detail
  • An interest in commodity and financial markets
  • The ability to communicate, collaborate and work effectively with in an international team environment
  • Leadership capabilities
