Description
We provide alternate provision, residential care and positive pathways for children and young people.


We have a number of bases across Berkshire including primary and secondary alternate provision sites, creative arts, boxing and construction in addition to children's homes and supported lodgings.


We work with local authorities, schools, parents and carers to engage children and young people in learning, positive activities and pathways for their future.

We give them the support and tools they need to write their own Storyy.


Key Objectives of the Role:


  • To provide support to the provision manager in the work with individual and groups of children and young people
  • To develop a professional and supportive relationship with children and young people as their mentor and lead professional
  • To have an understanding and to comply with, local and organisational procedures for promoting and safeguarding the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults
  • To give our young people a basic understanding of Trades

Daily and Monthly Responsibilities:


  • To provide direct support and guidance to children and young people, in relation to health, care and well-being, with an emphasis upon promoting children & young people's communication, language, physical, social and emotional development.
  • To provide a range of behavioural intervention strategies based on the assessment of a child's behaviours, this will include the development of Positive Behaviour Support plans and Targets
  • As lead professional and mentor, attend multi agency meetings as appropriate to share information
  • To record appropriately and keep children and young people's files up to date.
  • To be aware of child safeguarding procedures and ensure that any concerns regarding possible abuse are immediately reported to your line manager. Contribute to safeguarding investigations and protection planning as needed under the direction of the provision manager.
  • To undertake risk assessments and develop risk management plans either independently or as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • To attend team meetings on a regular basis, to make a commitment to regular supervision, to be responsive to critical challenge, advice, feedback and direction, and to demonstrate a commitment to training and development
  • To work as a positive role model and represent Storyy Group core values and behaviours, ensuring the work you are responsible for is in line with Storyy Group policies and procedures.
  • To comply with Storyy Group diversity & equality policy in every aspect of your work and positively promote the principles of these policies amongst colleagues, service users and other members of the community.
  • To comply with Storyy Group health and safety policy, data protection policy and to protect your own and others' health, safety and welfare.
  • To work flexibly as may be required by the needs of the service and carry out any other reasonable duties as required.

Scope of role
To respond to and support the Local Authorities and schools which purchase a service level agreement.

All employees working with children, young people and vulnerable adults have a responsibility for safeguarding and promoting their welfare.


The Department for Education (DfE) has set out statutory guidance 'Keeping Children Safe in Education' for schools and colleges on safeguarding.


Safeguarding is defined in paragraph 4 as: "Protecting children from maltreatment; preventing impairment of children's health or development; ensuring that children grow up in circumstances consistent with the provision of safe and effective care; and taking action to enable all children to have the best outcomes.

"

The definition of 'children' includes everyone under the age of 18.

  • 5 GCSE's (A
  • C or including Maths and English
