Where does this role fit in?


The role of the Quality Control department is to ensure the very highest standards of accuracy when checking completed artworks before they go to print.

This requires an exceptional eye for detail and an analytical mind, with a better-than-average knowledge of English grammar. It is also essential to make sure the client's brief has been fulfilled.


This is a proof reading role, and you must adapt to many different types of work from a wide range of prestigious and world-renowned clients, whose brand guidelines and corporate identity must be considered at all times when interpreting individual briefs, times, while working to strict deadlines.

This role is specifically, though not exclusively, to support our Packaging team.

Therefore, this role also requires some prior knowledge and understanding of the technical aspects of various packaging formats including:


  • An understanding of packaging regulatory requirements, appropriate to sector (e.g. food/cosmetics/toys)
  • An understanding of how to proofread proof read multiple languages across pack formats

Key Accountabilities - Conduct artwork content checks including the following**:

  • All spelling and grammar is correct and copy is clear, legible and logical
  • All requested text and images have been included
  • All images meet minimum printstandard requirements (resolution, etc.)
  • Clientspecific brand guidelines have been taken into account
  • The client's requirements as stated on the brief have been met
  • Any terms and conditions are comprehensive and legally compliant
  • Filenames and artwork codes match the brief/spreadsheet/information provided and are in the correct, previously agreed format
  • Ensures Ensuring strict adherence to ITG QC processes
  • Ensures Ensuring brief has been applied to the output correctly
  • Liaise Liaising with Production Manager to clarify instruction, where required

Packaging specific checks:


  • Check digital file following ITG QC procedures
  • Labelling content and regulatory adherence against to guidelines/standards
  • Correct colour profiles have been used
  • Colour separation is correct to print specification

Requirements:


What can you bring to the table?
In addition to the packaging specific knowledge listed above you will have:

  • Exceptional standards of English grammar and spelling
  • Good communication skills, both written and verbal
  • An exceptional eye for detail and meticulous quality standards
  • The ability to focus for long periods of time
  • Flexibility in working hours
  • Awareness of studio process and the ability to follow internal guidelines
  • An ability to work independently where necessary
  • Ability to understand and interpret brand guidelines
  • Allowance for shifting deadlines and changing client demands
  • A good teamwork ethic to work both within QC and with the Packaging teams
  • Experience and/or knowledge of working in the packaging and print industries
  • Ability to prioritise and organise work to ensure deadlines are met and different clients' requirements are taken into account
  • Good computer skills and experience working with Apple Macs, Microsoft Office and Adobe software
