A warehouse operative plays a crucial role in ensuring that products are stored, sorted, and dispatched efficiently.

They are responsible for the smooth running of a warehouse or distribution center, making sure that items are received, stored, and shipped out in a timely and accurate manner.

This role requires a high level of physical activity, as well as attention to detail and the ability to work as part of a team.

Responsibilities:

• Receive goods and check them against orders to ensure that all items are present and in good condition.
• Sort and store products in the appropriate location, making sure that inventory is updated and accurate.
• Pick and pack orders, ensuring that the correct items are selected and that they are packaged securely.
• Load and unload goods onto vehicles, making sure that they are properly secured and that any damage is recorded.
• Use equipment such as forklifts, pallet trucks, and handheld scanners to move products around the warehouse.
• Maintain a clean and organized work environment, ensuring that aisles are clear and that products are stacked safely and securely.
• Follow health and safety guidelines, including the use of personal protective equipment and adherence to manual handling procedures.
• Communicate with colleagues and management to report any issues or concerns, and to coordinate work activities as necessary.

Requirements:

• Physical fitness and the ability to perform manual handling tasks, such as lifting and carrying heavy items.
• Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
• Attention to detail and the ability to follow instructions and procedures accurately.
• Experience using equipment such as forklifts and pallet trucks is desirable, although training can be provided.
• Flexibility and the ability to work on a shift basis, including evenings and weekends if required.
• Basic computer skills for inventory management purposes.

Qualifications:

• Relevant training or certification in manual handling, forklift operation, and/or other related areas may be advantageous.

Working Conditions:

Warehouse operatives work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment where attention to detail and the ability to work as part of a team are essential.

This role involves a significant amount of physical activity, including lifting, carrying, and moving heavy items. The work environment may be noisy and dusty, and temperatures can vary depending on the season. Warehouse operatives may be required to work on a shift basis, including evenings.


Salary:
£10.50-£13.50 per hour
