Description

The role will involve assessment and management of dysphagia and communication difficulties with adults with learning disabilities, providing relevant training and service development.

This will include interventions to support risk management, positive behaviour support and inclusive communication.

You will work collaboratively with professional colleagues and provide support and guidance on communication and dysphagia within the MDT and provider services.

The post holder will receive excellent line management, regular supervision (including one-to-one, group and peer supervision) and opportunity to develop identified CPD needs.

The ideal post holder will have had experience working with adults with learning disabilities and have knowledge of related issues and influencing directives.

The post holder will have current HCPC registration.


The successful applicant will need:

  • A degree in Speech & Language Therapy
  • HCPC Registration
  • Experience working as a Speech and Language Therapist with individuals with learning disabilities, mental health difficulties and complex needs.
  • Knowledge of relevant local and national policy and directives.
  • Experience and competent in the assessment and treatment of chewing/swallowing difficulties or committed to achieving this within a specified time frame
