Job description:
We currently have an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and motivated individual to join our Defence Munitions (DM) team in Crombie, as a Material Accounts Officer.
Our DM sites play a crucial part for defence, working as an important part of the wider Ministry of Defence establishment that supports, procures, and supplies our troops.
We provide them with a range of munitions from bullets and flares up to and including complex weapons, such as high-calibre ammunition and guided or targeted weapons.
The Material Accounts Officer role is an essential part of the cross-site Material Accounting Team of four, who are responsible for the delivery of explosive and non-explosive inventory cyclical stocktake plans, management snap checks, discrepancy reporting, and supporting the respective delivery teams responsible for the held inventory.
You'll engage both remotely and directly with the stock taking team based at DM Glen Douglas, and report regularly to the Supply Chain Manager based there.
You may also be required to complete non-material accounting tasks as and when required by the depot team.
You'll be required to be on site 4 and a half days a week, with the option of working one day from home once training has been completed.
Due to the rural location of DM Crombie and the scale of the site, you will need to have your own transport, and parking is available.
We are keen to support you in continuing your professional development within this sector and will provide training where necessary.
The role is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys the mix of operating within an office-based environment, whilst being hands on and engaging with our site supply chain teams.
Responsibilities
- Manage the DM Crombie explosive & nonexplosive inventory stock taking plan, responsible to ensure the plan is fully delivered within the defined period by the stock take team
- Deliver and undertake the DM Crombie nonexplosive stock taking, responsible to ensure the plan is fully delivered within the defined period
- Manage and facilitate the management snap check plans.
- Undertake reperformance checks against the explosive stock taking plan.
- Raise discrepancy reports and run to completion within the required timescales.
- Provide remote and direct support to DM Glen Douglas stock taking team, requiring occasional travel to Glen Douglas (a vehicle will be provided for this purpose)
- Reporting to the Supply Chain Manager based at the Glen Douglas site
Person specification:
- Experience of collaborating with a range of staff and colleagues at all levels
- Experience in delivering customer service
- Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office 365 (Outlook, Word, Excel and Teams)
- Proficient numeracy skills
