TEC Partners are working with a noval, London-based startup dedicated to mitigating the impact of the livestock industry on the environment.

Their patented wearable device for cattle neutralizes livestock emissions and has the potential to reduce greenhousegas emissions equivalent to eliminating emissions from all forms of transportation combined.

About the Role:


My client is looking for a Lead Hardware Engineer with experience in embedded firmware to support the company's hardware and firmware development of a low-power radio and sensor PCB integrated within the wearable device.

This PCB uses a long-range, low-powerradio link to report on the status of the animal and the methane reduction process.


Reporting to the Head of Software, you will play a key role in creating high-quality PCB designs along with testable and tested firmware.


Primary Responsibilities:
As a Lead Hardware/Embedded Firmware Engineer, your main duties will include:

  • Component selection and circuit design to meet design and cost requirements
  • Selection and modification of appropriate LoRa firmware stack
  • Schematic entry and PCB layout in Altium
  • Hardware testing to ensure design meets requirements & compliance standards
  • Creating unit tests for the device firmware as it is continually developed
  • Contributing to code structure, reliability, features, and power consumption
  • Writing clear source code documentation to explain the code's functionality

Requirements:

To be successful in this role, you should have:

  • 5+ years of PCB design experience
  • Familiarity with Altium
  • 3+ years of experience in C/C++ for embedded (microcontroller) systems
  • Experience with integration of low power radios, e.g. LoRa, BT, Zigbee, etc.
  • Experience with product compliance (CE/FCC) testing, documentation, certification
Plus experience with the following would be a bonus:

  • Linux environment experience
  • Bash scripting, compilation
  • Python programming experience
  • Build automation to create version controlled production firmware releases
  • Working within an Agile environment in sprints
