We are delighted to partner with a highly regarded, academic secondary school in Croydon, South London, to find an exceptional and passionate Head of Art.

This is a fantastic opportunity for a leader who thrives in a dynamic environment and is committed to fostering a love for the Arts in students of all abilities.


The Role
As Head of Art, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of the department


Your responsibilities will include:

  • Leading a dedicated team of Art teachers to deliver a rich and engaging curriculum for KS3, KS4, and KS5 students.
  • Developing and implementing a cohesive Art curriculum that aligns with the school's ethos and national curriculum requirements.
  • Providing expert guidance and mentorship to colleagues, nurturing their professional development.
  • Leading by example, delivering inspiring and effective Art lessons that promote creativity, critical thinking, and artistic expression.
  • Overseeing the department's resources and budget, ensuring optimal utilization.
  • Cultivating strong relationships with parents, external organizations, and the wider school community.
  • Holds a relevant teaching qualification (e.g., QTS, PGCE) in Art.
  • Possesses extensive experience in leading a secondary school Art department.
  • Demonstrates a proven track record of raising student attainment and achievement in Art.
  • Exhibits a strong pedagogical understanding and a passion for innovative teaching methods.
  • Possesses excellent communication, collaboration, and leadership skills.
  • Holds a genuine enthusiasm for the Arts and a desire to inspire students.
