The role requires a strong and enthusiastic problem solver and self-starter.

They will be required to be effective at planning and managing their own work and then acting as 'Product Owner' to drive forward the work of the IT delivery team including Developersand QA.

They will be required to perform extensive hands-on work on the systems and will be required to develop appropriate system knowledge and technical skills.

As well as ETRM experience you will also need to become familiar with Front Office tools in Excel/PowerBI, become proficient in SQL, PowerQuery and Excel.


The Business Analyst will be required to be proactive in engaging with users and working with them in a collaborative and open manner.

They must take ownership of creating structured documentation (e.g. backlogs of user stories) and be able to communicateeffectively with technical and non-technical individuals, as well as running meetings with larger teams. They will be required to use company IT processes and tools to document, track and manage their work.


They must be comfortable and adapt their style as needed to work effectively in different types of IT delivery team, including small agile teams and IT Project teams.

The Business Analyst will work on small change and projects and will be responsible forthe following across the 'core systems' landscape.

The role will also be responsible for Change Projects, including identifying user needs and developing workable solutions.

This will also involve documenting system changes, estimating changes, working withthe IT Delivery team, and a range of other duties including training, UAT, release planning and user documentation.

To be considering for this role you will need:

  • 5 years' experience as an IT Business Analyst or focussed on ETRM systems within a trading house, investment bank, or through a tier-1 consultancy
  • Experience of Commodities Trading (preferably including physical LNG, Coal, Freight or Oil)
  • Experience analysing trade data using analytical tools such as SQL, PowerQuery, Excel
