Flying Start is a Welsh Government initiative, which seeks to target support for pre-school children and their families within specific areas, and to deliver specific outcomes for children.

Flying Start offers identified children access to high quality childcare as part of a multi-agency team approach.


Working as Deputy Senior Childcare worker within a Flying Start setting, you will act as the Deputy for the Senior Childcare Worker within a team of childcare workers, supporting 2-3 year old children, helping them to develop, learn and play, providing high standards of physical, emotional, social and intellectual care for Flying Start children.


You will act as Deputy Senior Childcare worker and support the Senior Childcare worker and the childcare team, through guidance, leading by example and maintaining high standards of practice and care.

The successful applicants for this post will be an enthusiastic, motivated team member with experience of leadership and working with childcare staff and registered childcare setting


Within the childcare team you will be supported by the Flying Start Senior Childcare Worker, the FS Childcare Team Leader, the FS Advisory Teacher, Educational Psychologists and Speech and Language Therapists you and your team will liaise regularly with various members of the multi-agency team within Flying Start.

In this role, you will work within one of the Flying Start settings. However, you may be required to work at any of the existing and future Flying Start areas, as required.

The ability to greet customers through the medium of Welsh is a requirement for this post.

Protecting children, young people or adults at risk is a core responsibility of all council employees.

Criminal records check by the Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS) is a requirement for this post.

A valid driving licence is requirement for this post.
