Description
Overview Of Role This new project focusses on three modelling components:

  • Combining meteorological data and forecasts with models for aphid population metrics and crop development to advance and extend Virus Yellow forecasts, including the incorporation of alternative control strategies;
  • Assessing geographical variation in Virus Yellow incidence and hence develop approaches for regional rather than national forecasts and potentially more tailored control strategies;
  • Developing a simulation framework for the "virus yellow aphid sugar beet" system, to enable the exploration of the impacts of different combinations of control strategies.
  • This is a parttime appointment for 30 hours per week (available over 4 or 5 days a week) until the end of the project (31st December 2027), based on a fulltime equivalent salary in the range of £ £41438 p.a. prorata dependent on postdoctoral experience. The institute takes a flexible approach to working patterns, with a range of hybrid working models able to be considered.
