Description
General Information and Role.


  • Hold a current and valid driving licence with C+E entitlement.
  • Hold a current and valid driver CPC.
  • Hold a current and valid digital tachograph.
  • Notify the Transport Manager of any pending endorsements or penalties that are incurred even if driving your own vehicles, as it may affect your driving licence.
  • Notify the Transport Manager of any changes to your health that has the possibility to affect your ability to drive, this may include prescription drugs prescribed by a doctor.
  • Keep up to date with the Highway code and legislation around HGV driving.
  • Drivers must adhere to the EU legislation hours, especially when performing other duties, ensure that tachograph setting is altered accordingly.
  • Vehicle Defect checks conducted on a daily basis to a DVSA standard ensuring vehicle safety and compliance is being met. Reporting done on a nil defect basis, any defects should be done using the BigChange and workshop systems.
  • Transport the businesses planing and surfacing equipment to and from sites as required.
  • Ensure the correct mandatory PPE is clean and worn at all times when on site.
  • Arrival on site should be a minimum of 30 minutes prior to commencement of works ensuring that you, have the following (I.D, CSCS card)
  • Liaise with the Tripod Crest or F&T Goodwin foreman to establish scope of works and attend the daily briefing, either being carried out by the foreman or client supervisor. This is to familiarise yourself with any known hazards in the workplace such as overhead cables, deep excavations, access and egress points etc.
  • Ensure that any load being transported is done so in a safe and secure process as outlined in the businesses risk assessments and method statements.
  • Provide assistance in refuelling and filling the machine with water as required prior to start of shift.
  • Ensure all vehicles and equipment are refuelled upon their return to the yard.
  • Transport picks and other consumables as required for the operation of the machine and or crew operating the machinery.
  • Conduct banksman duties as required, following the company's policy and procedures.
  • Lodge away in the vehicle as required for commercial purposes.
  • Never overload your vehicle.
  • Complete all required paperwork and supply to the office at the end of the working week. i.e tip tickets, timesheets.
  • Where planing machines are required to be placed on site, park in an unobtrusive position on firm solid ground with compartments locked and coned off.
  • The above list is not exhaustive and you will be expected to perform tasks as necessitated by your changing role and overall business objectives of Tripod Crest & F&T Goodwin.
  • Weekend working required to fit in with availible tachograph hours

£9.58-£19.00 per hour
