Key areas of responsibility:


Process Control:


  • Evaluate data and monitor site processes and systems, identify deviations from procedures and specifications and initiate corrective actions, or improvements, as necessary.
  • Ensure good manufacturing practice (GMP) is employed; critical processes validated for compliance and consistency to specification, manufacturing changes evaluated, monitored and controlled.
  • Establish process variability, statistical process control (SPC), of key processes and variables including the review and identification of issues and improvements.
  • Organise and manage the calibration of key production equipment and scanners in conjunction with Maintenance Manager and external contractors.

Process Improvement:


  • Facilitate and support Production and Quality problem solving using root cause analysis (RCA) tools and techniques.
  • Initiate and stimulate production process improvements, utilise continuous and lean improvement tools and techniques, design of experiments (DoE), analyse and test production / process adjustments.
  • Work with Production, Engineering, Quality and Development Managers to set priorities, optimise formulations and efficiencies and support technical and aesthetic product developments.

Process Documentation:


  • Ensure technical specifications and supporting documents are up to date and representative of actual processes to ensure compliance with internal and external audits and accreditation bodies.
  • Update, maintenance and change control of Production and Process (PEC) documents on site database.

Health, Safety and Environment:


  • Work within company Safety, Quality and Environmental policies and 18001, 9001 and 14001 standards.
  • Support the internal risk assessment process and advise on hazard and risk within area of knowledge and expertise.

Budgets / Expenditure:


  • Support consumables budget expenditure including raising purchase orders, evaluating alternatives and implementing any cost saving opportunities with suppliers.
  • Support Engineering & Project teams on new capital equipment investment including process specification, supplier selection and SAT & FAT testing to ensure processes are capable and optimised.

People:


  • Train and support production Team Leaders, Operators and other colleagues to improve technical knowledge and competency.
  • Controlling and authorising procedures, systems and equipment in relation to knowledge and expertise
  • Assisting with various strategic projects when required

In order to considered for this role, you will have:

  • 5 years+ experience in a continuous process, high value add environment with complex recipes from a rolled products sector (film/ paper/ têxtile) or a relevant manufacturing sector (food/ pharma/ plastics).
  • An apprenticeship with experience in a related field; Chemistry, Engineer or Process plus a
- relevant qualification (minimum HND or equivalent).

  • Ability to build trust through rapport and establish credibility at all levels through the business.
  • Data collection and real time data monitoring including an understanding of SPC tools and analysis.
  • Live within commutable distance of Alfreton/Ripley area.
  • Can work autonomously; has the tenacity to learn and develop understanding on bespoke processes.
  • Strong PC and analytical skills (e.g. MS Excel, Project, PowerPoint, Maths, Word, SPC, DoE, Minitab).
  • Ability to plan, organise and undertake process trials including recording findings and presenting results.
  • Able to use, control and analyse SCADA and industrial automation and control systems (i.e. HMI's).
  • Ability to prioritise and work to plans and deadlines inc. creating and monitoring project plans.
