Our client, a local administrative body in a busy metropolitan area, is seeking an experienced
Appeals and Legal Suppt Officer with a strong background in legal suppt, with experience in tribunal and fmal disagreements.


As an Appeals and Legal Suppt Officer, you'll lead tribunal cases, prepare and present them, liaise with Legal Services and multi-agency practitioners, and defend Local Authity positions at SENDT.

Day rate: 284 PAYE 360 LTD GBP/ day

Responsibilities:

Provide leadership f tribunal and fmal disagreements, including case preparation and representation of the Local Auth
- ity.

  • Promote early mediation and problem resolution to reduce tribunal cases. Offer advice and attend resolution meetings to settle disputes without f
- mal legal action, including negotiating changes to EHC plans. Collab
- ate with schools and agencies to promote best practices in assessment, planning, and person-centered approaches. Lead wkf
- ce development by addressing practice concerns with team managers.

  • Respond to concerns raised via SENDT process and mediation/disagreement resolution meetings, fostering confidence in the SEND Team and local area partnership. Serve as the main point of contact f appellants and stakeholders, maintaining clear rec
- ds and communication throughout the process. Codinate matters effectively, provide rep
- ts and briefings, and ensure consistency in decision-making through data analysis and policy contributions.

Minimum of 3-5 years' experience: Wking with children and young people with SEND (Special Educational Needs and Disabilities), ideally in a casewk
- advocacy role.

  • Demonstrated experience: In conducting mediations, resolving disputes, and representing clients in legal proceedings

Knowledge of SEND legislation:
Including the Children and Families Act 2014, SEND Code of Practice, and relevant tribunal procedures.
