We are recruiting for a Regulatory Advice Business Partner at StepChange Debt Charity in Leeds.

This is a great opportunity to join the charity's busy Risk & Compliance team and play a key role working with partners and stakeholders across the charity.

You'll be supporting the delivery of outcomes aligned to client need, broader charity strategy and key legal, regulatory and mandatory
expectations with a particular focus on relating to information security, data protection and technology;


Where you'll work:

We operate a hybrid working model combining remote working with some days in our modern Leeds city centre office.


What you'll be doing:


  • Ongoing engagement with key stakeholders across the charity, in relation to key items of regulatory focus
  • Provide proactive advice, guidance and challenge on compliance and conduct matters and the implications arising from a regulatory perspective where appropriate
  • Responding to and providing support and guidance in relation to technical queries from across the charity and keeping up to date logs of all advice provided
  • Review and guidance on matters relating to first line activity including communications (inc financial promotions), training, quality assurance and complaints ensuring that internal processes are adhered to and records logged
  • Leading impact assessments and gap analysis on new regulatory updates and, if gaps or weaknesses are identified, collaborate with key stakeholders to address
  • Represent the risk and compliance function though key change initiatives, providing advice and guidance on expectations; highlight risks and providing guidance on key aspects of regulatory focus for consideration.
  • Providing support and guidance to colleagues across the charity in relation to systems and control issues around regulatory rules and regulation
  • Undertaking other ad hoc regulatory advice focused tasks as required supporting colleagues within the compliance team and across the charity

What you'll bring:


Proven experience of:


  • Demonstratable experience in a role within a Conduct focused FCA regulated environment with emphasis on technology, information security and data protection.
  • Familiarity and experience of working within an Information Technology Framework such as Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL); ISO 27001, National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) or Control Objectives for Information
    and Related Technologies (COBIT)
  • Familiarity with the regulatory and legal frameworks relevant to the charity.
  • A good awareness of the current Financial Services regulatory landscape

It would also be desirable and advantageous, but not essential, to:

  • CONC
  • MCOB
  • CASS
  • Insolvency
  • Financial Crime and AML
  • Hold a relevant information technology foundation qualification such as ITIL
  • Hold a relevant compliance qualification and/or have a proven track record of continuous professional development
  • Working within a change led organisation
