Description

Do you care about books

We are part of a very large, very busy library system, with about 1.5million printed books housed over several site libraries and stores, and our team's job is to manage them all.

We make sure they are in the right places, using the Dewey Decimal classification system for shelf ordering, and a variety of vehicles (vans and a cargo bike) to move collections of books between different libraries and stores.

Operations on our book stock include the moving, packing, cleaning, shelving, shelf-checking and relabeling of book stock, as well as checking and updating catalogue records online.

We are looking for an organised and adaptable individual to join our team of Stock Operations Supervisors.

The University of Manchester Library is one of only five National Research Libraries and the third largest academic library in the UK.

Our vast and rich collections (both print and digital) help us to deliver a world class library and information service for the University of Manchester.

We sit at the heart of the University experience for both learning and research and are fully committed to widening access to our expertise, collections and services to individual researchers, local schools, and others in the community.
