Sustainability Officer

Location:
Milton Keynes or London (hybrid working)

Company Secretary

The role


Rightmove is recruiting a Sustainability Officer to promote and lead on environmental and sustainability matters. This is a new role that will report into the Company Secretary, who has responsibility for ESG. The post holder will be responsible for driving forward Rightmove's environmental initiatives externally and internally, and for managing our environmental reporting. This person will work closely with various stakeholders across the business to progress Rightmove's new Go Greener philosophy and business strategy, including the Company Secretary and her team, product leaders, HR and Marketing. There is huge scope for the postholder to not only lead on environmental matters at Rightmove but to potentially grow the role over time to encompass wider sustainability matters. This role calls for an enthusiastic, knowledgeable, and confident self-starter who will relish the opportunity to make this role their own.

A typical week as a Sustainability Officer might involve:


  • Leading the implementation and further development of Rightmove's environmental Go Greener strategy:

Holding regular check-in sessions with all key stakeholders, to ensure consistent and successful outputs aligned to our KPIs Collating information relating to Rightmove's environmental reporting including Greenhouse Gas emissions, TCFD, energy and water usage, and waste:


  • Working with the Company Secretary on Environmental reporting, within the ESG section of the annual report and accounts, eventually taking full responsibility for Environmental reporting and the drafting of the Environmental section of the ESG report:

Management of Rightmove's Go Greener employee group, which focuses on environmental matters - organising and leading meetings, including arranging speakers, preparing agendas and following up on actions arising at meetings:


  • Working with key stakeholders to prepare, implement, analyse and publish the results of the annual commuting survey and supplier survey:

Working with the Company Secretary and her team to update/complete ESG ratings agency portals and questionnaires, eventually taking full responsibility for environmental data input to those platforms/questionnaires and working with the Company Secretary and other stakeholders to ensure that up to date information is provided to those platforms:


  • Being the internal trusted voice on environmental matters at Rightmove, keeping on top of external developments and providing advice, information and data when requested:

Assisting the Company Secretary and her team with reports and updates to the Board, Audit and Risk Committee on Environmental matters/performance, including ESG dashboards, and keeping the ESG section of the Rightmove Investor website up to date.

We're looking for someone who:

Is enthusiastic, informed, experienced in and passionate about environmental and wider sustainability matters:


  • Has knowledge and practical experience of environmental company regulations and reporting, including emissions and energy reporting
  • experience in a listed company environment is not essential but would be an advantage:

Can work unsupervised and will make this role their own:


  • Is methodical and can collate, analyse, work with and report environmental data and information:

Is organised and can deliver work in time to meet deadlines, at times in a fast-paced environment
