This is an exciting time for the George Baker group and due to continued expansion we are looking for an experienced freight forwarder to manage our customers air and sea freight requirements from origin to destination, offering a complete end to end solution for the movement of freight by air or sea.

The role will mainly be focused on preparing and following up quotes to existing and lapsed customers and making bookings as per their requirements.


Key Responsibilities:


  • Controlling our customers' import air and sea freight shipments from origin to destination
  • Liaising with clients, shippers and overseas agents to arrange bookings
  • Negotiating freight and transport rates
  • Preparing and following up quotes to existing and lapsed customers
  • Updating the company CRM
  • Onboarding new business in line with company procedures
  • Effectively using in house systems to create and manage shipments
  • Managing both FCL and LCL shipments
  • Building relationships with customers to add value and maximise business opportunities
  • Providing customers with progress updates at every stage
  • Ensuring clients are served in line with their Standard Operating Procedures (SOP)
  • Dealing with client invoicing/job in a timely and accurate manner
  • Arranging import customs clearance in line with the company AEO procedures
  • Providing expert guidance to colleagues and customers
  • Query handling and problem solving

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise:


  • 2 years previous import sea freight experience within a freight forwarding company is essential
  • Good knowledge of customs processes and documentation
  • Ability to communicate effectively with shipping lines and hauliers
  • Highly organised with ability to prioritise own workload
  • Selfmotivated, reliable, trustworthy and hard working
  • Proactive approach, problem solving skills
  • Experience of using Datafreight or Sequoia an advantage
