Information Advice and Assistance (IAA) Support Worker

Contract:
Secondment with a two year review


_Agile - __inclusive of home working, and frequent travel across Gwent to various offices._

All staff must work flexibly on occasions to meet the needs of women and children.


Purpose of the post:


  • To provide information, advice, assistance and support to people who are experiencing domestic abuse. Complete risk assessments and safety planning where needed. If needed refer to MARAC (Multi Agency Risk Assessment Conference), attend MARAC and response to personal Protection Notifications (PPN) referrals from the police.
  • To ensure compliance with Part 7 of the Social Services and Wellbeing (Wales) Act 2014 and the Wales Safeguarding Procedures.
  • To manage a caseload and associated administrative tasks from point of referral through to closure in an efficient and effective manner.
  • To work in collaboration and promote effective communication with other agencies.
  • To engage and empower service users, their carers and their support networks and to actively elicit service user and carer feedback in order to ensure person centred interventions.
  • To develop, implement and review effective service user risk management plans and care and support plans in relation to Adult Safeguarding.
  • To maintain accurate records of own professional involvement with service users, carers and families in line with the requirements of the Directorate, which will involve the use of I.T systems.
  • To ensure that antidiscriminatory and antioppressive practice characterises individual performance.
  • To assist in the collection, monitoring (quality assurance), analysis and reporting of Performance Information relating to Adult Safeguarding to determine patterns of abuse and actively engage in the preventative strategy.
  • To attend group supervision meetings and team meetings and actively contribute to team development

Responsibilities:


  • Deliver specialist Violence Against Women, Domestic Abuse and Sexual Violence (VAWDASV) support services to people who seek safety, support or information where domestic abuse or sexual violence is present.
  • Develop networks and referral pathways with other agencies within the Blaenau Gwent area.
  • Carry out initial needs and risk assessments alongside those accessing support to determine what level and type of service is appropriate.
  • To develop, implement and review effective service user risk management plans and care and support plans in relation to Adult Safeguarding.
  • Support those accessing the service to identify and engage with their personal safety plan.
  • To ensure that those accessing the service are aware of their rights to legal protection for themselves and their children, arranging for the provision of legal advice as required.
  • Signpost/refer to the most appropriate service(s) including external agencies, social services, the police etc.
  • Complete Multi Agency Risk Assessment Conference (MARAC) referrals for those at high risk, attend and contribute to MARAC meetings ensuring completion of all tasks allocated.
  • Ensure accurate records are maintained in relation to all aspects of the service, including inputting information into the Information Management System.
  • To ensure that the views and experiences of those using Cyfannol Women's Aid services, including external agencies are actively sought, recorded carefully and are used to inform the development of services
  • Be fully aware of the child and adult protection and safeguarding procedures, report to line manager any concerns and process referrals when required.
  • To ensure compliance with Part 7 of the Social Services and Wellbeing (Wales) Act 2014 and the Wales Safeguarding Procedures
  • To maintain confidentiality and to ensure that professional boundaries are observed with those accessing services, staff and external bodies.
  • To be an ambassador for Cyfannol Women's Aid and Blaenau Gwent Council, working in partnership with other agencies to ensure an effective, coordinated community response is provided to those affected by VAWDASV.
