Jewish Care's Community Centres are at the heart of changing people's lives for the better.

We aim to ensure that Jewish older people lead a meaningful life, have a sense of belonging and participate in their community through attending our Community Centres.


We are seeking a Senior Programme & Outreach Assistant to support our Community Centre and Retirement Living services at our prestigious Golders Green Campus.


You will be responsible for front line delivery of day services to Jewish Care members, and Selig Court tenants, including running and supporting with activities such as chair based-exercise classes, discussion groups, special interest groups, monthly Tea parties, and specialist events centred around the High Holy calendar.


What you will be doing:


  • Planning, developing, implementing and running a personcentred programme of stimulating activities that meet the social, physical, emotional, and cultural needs of members and tenants to enable them to lead as full a life as possible.
  • Working with members, tenants, volunteers and colleagues to design, develop and deliver a range of daily activities that reflect individual needs, interests, choices, and preferences.
  • Working with the Centre Coordinator and Registered Manager to ensure events and activities are arranged in line with budgetary requirements.
  • Planning and delivering events and activities for Jewish Festivals to actively celebrate the Jewish way of life. This will require regular working outside of the usual 95pm pattern, including evenings and weekends.
- identifying and reviewing risks, hazards and health and safety concerns with relevant colleagues.

  • Data entry into Jewish Care's membership database, Dynamics.
  • Reviewing the quality of services and ensure that feedback contributes to the overall running of the Centre.
  • Working with programming teams to set up technology to support members taking part in activities at home such as online social discussion groups and exercise classes.
  • Where necessary, as indicated in a person's care plan, carry out duties such as personal care and document as required. Take part in care plan meetings with colleagues, internal Social Work colleagues, relatives, and external agencies.
  • Supporting our minibus drivers with the transportation needs of members, ensuring their needs are met in line with our agreed standards for transport.

What You will need:


  • Relevant qualification within Health & Social Care or willingness to work towards.
  • Experience of working in the field of recreational/social activity.
  • Experience of working with individual clients and with groups.
  • Experience of working with older people with varying abilities and needs who may also suffer from Dementia.
  • Experience working in partnership with families, carers, volunteers, and community members.
  • Awareness of physical and mental health issues affecting older people.
