Procurement has a Supplier Management Centre of Excellence (CoE) whose aim is to be responsible for a supplier management framework to manage third party risk, drive supplier management best practice consistently across the Firm through methodology, tools, templates, mentoring, training, consolidated reporting and supporting colleagues who have supplier management responsibilities.


The Supplier Management CoE Lead heads up the Centre of Excellence for Supplier Relationship Management (SRM) and is responsible for coordinating and driving the CoE activity.

The responsibilities include providing advice and guidance on SRM activities, providing the right tools templates and approaches to the devolved supplier managers to deliver, ensure procurement governance, oversee and manage third party risk and compliance.

The end result being a robust and auditable delivery of SRM across strategic suppliers, assuring consistent controls, leveraging third party relationships & spend, managing third party risks, overseeing incremental value, assuring appropriate executive engagement from Tier 1 suppliers, and driving innovation.


The Lead's main responsibilities are:
Execution


Defines, manages and reviews the overarching supplier management framework and strategy and supports and drives the development of strategic relationships across significant suppliers.


Driving forward the SRM CoE activity by:

  • Being responsible for developing and delivering the strategy of SRM across supplier base in conjunction with key SRM team leads Ensuring effective management of the SRM CoE programme of workLeading on the SRM communications strategy and delivery Being the central point for co-ordination of SRM activity in response to firm initiatives or emerging risks that impact third parties (historically these have included Covid-19, Brexit, Russia/Ukraine war, Energy / inflation exposure impacts) Leading on the provision of training and mentoring relating to SRMManaging and continuously developing the reporting of SRM programme metrics and insights such as performance, risk, spend versus budget and innovation activity. Tracking the benefits that the programme delivers, including alignment with Finance teams and feeding into the ongoing business case for SRM
  • Ownership and development of supplier management technology
  • Leadership and structural management of third party risks Ensuring implementation of relevant controls and activities in line with agreed processesEnsuring the delivery of a high quality SRM advisory service to key business stakeholdersWork jointly with the Sustainable Procurement Lead/Manager to ensure that the sustainable procurement programme objectives are interwoven and executed as part of the wider supplier management programmeDrive high performing and strategic relationships with key suppliers by providing proactive support to supplier managers, in areas such as joint account planning, strategic risk assessment, contract health check review and attending business review meetings with key suppliersDrive forward 'Executive Engagement' across Tier 1 suppliers, through coordinating executive level meetings and ensuring meeting agenda and content contributes to strategic and valueadding relationships.
Building Relationships


Ability to build and develop effective relationships with key internal stakeholders, demonstrating a full understanding of their drivers & requirements and identifying and providing appropriate support & solutionsOperate as a trusted business advisor to various functions.

Develop strong relationships with the Procurement category teams by acting as a key element between sourcing and supplier management

Programme Management

  • Strong programme and project management skills enabling the effective and successful deployment of the supplier management programme to the business
  • Ability to work under pressure, managing conflicting requirements whilst delivering excellent client service
Team Player

  • Ability to work as part of a team, contributing to the wider procurement agenda and leading and supporting the pursuit of best practice supplier management
Act as a mentor, providing best practice advice to the less experienced supplier managers and wider business operations teams, offering support and direction as appropriate
