We predominately work with qualitative research; however someone with basic quantitative research skills would be an asset and will be continued to be developed in the role.

The role will support the team with turning research into action (Knowledge Mobilisation) through various methods such as data visualisation, and the translation of research specifically related to improving health and the wider social determinants.


We work alongside Voluntary Sector organisations, Local Authorities, and the NHS to co-design, co-develop and collaborate with communities to launch new or enhance existing user-led services.

We use the very latest global evidence to showcase impact, generating usable information to improve services.

£23,300
(rising to
£24,140 after successful completion of probation) per annum

JOB SUMMARY:

The
Research Assistant is responsible for the research, development and design of mental health recovery-oriented training programmes / learning sessions to a variety of groups.

Focusing on a recovery, resiliency, and prevention model, the position involves developing mental health curriculum and online content.

The role also requires the researching of new and emerging mental health interventions and supporting with collecting and analysing programme data.


Role responsibilities:


  • Reporting to the Head of Research, Impact, and Evaluation to create programme materials and conduct deskbased and some field research.
  • Conducting interviews or focus groups and reporting findings in writing or by visual presentations.
  • Researching and reporting on the availability of local resources and opportunities within specific communities.
  • Undertaking literature reviews of material in the public domain to identify new, emerging and underutilised health and community interventions.
  • Determining which of those interventions have a positive impact on individual and community health and social wellbeing.
  • Developing materials, sessions, and webinars and delivering training sessions.
  • Communicating complex theories and evidence in a clear, accessible and jargon free manner both written and verbally.
  • Collecting and supporting with the analysis of data on delivered programmes and initiatives to measure their impact.
  • Conducting needs assessments and environmental scans.
  • Working in collaboration with people with lived experience.
  • Researching community needs and evidence for health and community interventions.
  • Planning and scheduling and assisting programme events.

Experience required:


  • Undergraduate degree. (Social Science undergraduate considered an asset).
  • Good understanding and practical experience of quantitative research methods.
  • Understanding of quantitative research skills and conducting research surveys and analysing the resulting data.
  • Ability to present and facilitate focus groups and workshops in a positive, engaging, and interactive manner.
  • Ability to interpret, communicate and implement complex information.
  • Strong collaborative and relationship building skills with key stakeholders.
  • An ability to relate to, motivate and empathise with a range of people from different backgrounds.
  • Ability to conduct a detailed review of recent literature and produce environmental scans.

Things that would be great, but not essential:

  • Knowledge of or experience in the mental health/addiction field, homelessness, DEI, youth work or social care.
  • An understanding of the recovery model and peer support.
  • Knowledge and experience in prevention, engagement, and promotion in health.
