Job Purpose


Your role will be to support the delivery of the ER agenda in a fair, impartial and consistent manner to ensure a culture of proactive and efficient ER.

You will work closely with the ER Manager and P&C Advisory team to respond to ER case work/queries and will use risk analysis and initiative to anticipate potential issues in order to identify preventative measures.


Job Role

  • Provide commercially focused operational ER support to the business.
  • Be the first point of contact for HR policy/ER advice queries and to facilitate early resolution of ER issues.
  • You will ensure that the wider risks associated with cases are considered and effectively managed, seeking advice and support from the Employee Relations Manager and or Head of HR Advisory where necessary.
  • Establish strong working relationships with relevant stakeholders to support the ER agenda whilst upskilling management in essential ER and Policy requirements.
  • To proactively manage all ER case types with an ability to balance wellbeing and commerciality to ensure the best approach is taken.
  • Provide up to date UK Employment Law advice to managers and partners, minimising any legal risk to the business
  • Manage TUPE transfers within the legislative framework.
  • Provide an expert and up to date knowledge to all team members on HR policies and procedures and employment law processes as applicable.
  • Supporting to resolve issues as informally as possible or ensuring that the formal processes are carried out in line with HR Policy and procedure.
  • Support the team with performance management and engagement initiatives to improve engagement and health and wellbeing
  • Play a lead role in conjunction with HR Business Partners on consultation and restructuring processes. Advising on the redundancy process, consultation meetings and in the provision of written communication to affected employees ensuring that all rights and entitlements in an 'at risk' situation are advised and maintained.
  • Accurately record all ER related case work on the Employee Relations system and escalate complex ER issues to the Employee Relations Manager for advice, support and guidance.
  • Assist in the compilation of reports on HR/ER activity highlighting any areas of concern and working with the relevant member of the People & Culture team to implement measures / take appropriate action to address these concerns.
  • Work proactively in raising management skills of line managers through the preparation, design of HR management briefing sessions. Assisting with the delivery of these sessions and any other appropriate scheduled training sessions.
  • To participate in the update and revision of HR Policies, guidance and document templates as requested.

Your Skills, Experience and Knowledge

  • Relationship management skills: negotiating and influencing skills; adept at handling difficult individuals to gain positive and constructive outcomes;
  • Experience of change management: reorganisations, restructuring, acquisitions and TUPE in a multisite business;
  • Depth of employment law knowledge based on a mixture of; academic qualifications significant experience and demonstrable continuous personal development;
  • Effective communicator with excellent report writing and presentation skills, strong analytical abilities and a real eye for detail.
  • Able to articulate the benefits of good ER in a way that translates this into real business results and benefits;
  • Experience of managing complex ER matters at all levels, across different disciplines and industries (Professional Services experience is a nice to have).
  • Curiosity around technology, creativity and innovation, good data analytics experience and the ability to generate insight through systems and tools.
  • Strong communicator and influencer who takes the time to truly understand key stakeholders and the needs of their clients and take the appropriate action to support the strategic goals of the business.
