Village Leathers is looking for an amazing leather craftsperson & workshop assistant to join our team - someone incredibly organised and excited to work in a fast paced creative environment where each day brings a new brief.


We're looking for someone with a can-do attitude and broad understanding of a small business who can happily juggle day to day tasks and anticipate upcoming challenges.

A friendly, ambitious self-starter with an eye for detail can flourish in this role.


This is a dynamic position in a team of 4 people so we expect dedication and enthusiasm and can provide scope for more responsibility and personal growth depending on your ambitions.

Village Leathers is an independent Leather Accessories and Belt Studio based in North West London.

We've been in business since 1974 and grown to have two shops based in Covent Garden's Jubilee Market as well as several online outlets.

We're looking for a new member to join the manufacturing team full time.

The role covers an array of responsibilities including the manufacturing of products, keeping up stock levels for the shops and online stores and looking after the workshop facilities.

This is a full time position and we will require you to have the flexibility to work the occasional weekend.


Main Responsibilities:

  • The making of Leather belts, and Leather Accessories the company produces.
  • Maintain stock levels and anticipate requirements for manufacturing of products.
  • Manage and maintain stock of raw materials, components, fittings and packaging materials.
  • Order, unpack and distribute stock by wholesalers.
  • Answer and reroute general calls to studio, take messages and forward if required.
  • Collect deliveries and check off contents.
  • Communicate with shops in Covent Garden about deliveries/returns.

Experience & Characteristics:

  • Prior experience in the day to say running of a small business.
  • Calm, methodical and hardworking disposition.
  • Brilliant time management, punctuality and organisational skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • The capacity to prioritise tasks and work under pressure.
  • Strong desire to use initiative and anticipate tasks without instruction.
  • Great attention to detail and keenness to maintain high product standards.
  • Excellent at problem solving and team work to create efficient production.

Required Skills:


  • Previous experience of working with Leather and knowledge of its properties.
  • Experience of working in fast paced/high pressure environment.
Desirable Skills

  • Ability to confidently use industrial sewing machines
  • Experience of using other leather specific machinery
  • IT experience including Photoshop, Illustrator, inDesign and Google Drive.
  • Previous experience in a customer facing role eg shop.
Salary commensurate with your experience.


Job Types:
Full-time, Part-time, Permanent

Part-time hours: 22.5 per week


Salary:
£10.00-£12.00 per hour
