Do you have experience in supporting children with additional needs? Are you seeking your next role within education? Empowering Learning are delighted to be supporting a school in the DE3 area who are looking to appoint an SEN Teaching Assistant to work on a full time basis.

The role is full time and the contract will begin as soon as possible. The role will initially run until July 2023 with the potential of the role becoming permanent after that. This role could also start in September 2023 for the right person

The hours of work will be 08:30 - 15:30.

The school are looking for someone who:

  • Holds at least one years experience working in a school environment
  • Has previously supported pupils who present with autism
  • Can easily build relationships with children who struggle to engage in class
  • Has a TA qualification or a relevant degree
  • Will work effectively as a team player
  • Has a sound understanding of the KS1 and KS2 curriculum's

The main duties within the role will be:

  • Leading academic interventions with children working below age expected levels
  • Working closely with pupils who present with autism
  • Using a visual timetable to help pupils understand what is coming next in the day
  • Supporting pupils on a 1:1 basis who present with a range of needs
  • Liaising with the class teacher, parents and SENCO around progress of the children
  • Following the targets set on children's educational health care plans
  • Supporting the teaching and learning within the classroom

Job Types:
Full-time, Fixed term contract

Contract length: 6 months


Salary:
£17,500.00-£20,000.00 per year


Schedule:

  • Day shift
  • Monday to Friday

Ability to commute/relocate:

  • Derby: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required)
