The Data Strategy and Services department provides important services to the rest of the business by managing data collections and ensuring that we have appropriate data governance in place.

The data we collect is essential to ensuring the FCA can regulate firms effectively and protecting consumers from harm.

What you will be doing (the role)


The role involves:

  • Contract management of key commercial data services and sources.
  • Engaging effectively with external stakeholders and product vendors, using negotiation and communication skills to drive best value for money and meet business requirements.
  • Where required, working with Procurement Department to run tender exercises for data and information sources, and engaging Procurement department on all highvalue renewals and acquisitions.
  • Mentoring and coaching less experienced colleagues.
  • Promoting and publicising Information Centre, Data Acquisition and Data services, specifically focussing on data and information sources.
  • Supporting and delivering projects and initiatives to improve usability, functionality or efficiency of data sources and services provided.
  • Undertaking proactive research to understand new sources of data that may be of use to the organisation.
The skills and experience you will have


Minimum- Experience of working with procurement specialists and other procurement exercises from requirements gathering through to implementation.- Significant contract and management experience.

- Significant stakeholder management experience


Essential- Ability to present advice and recommendations in a clear and succinct manner that are tailored for the relevant audience, ensuring that communications are fit for purpose.- Excellent oral and written communication skills, particularly in conducting presentations and concise report writing.- The ability to work effectively with a variety of stakeholders (including relationship management), both internal and external to the FCA.- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate to staff at all levels both within and outside the FCA.- Experience of data and information management and dissemination for internal stakeholders.- Ability to balance, prioritise and manage competing demands; a "can-do" attitude and the ability to work under pressure and meet challenging deadlines.

Desirable- Professional data or information management qualification (e.g. CILIP, EDM Council) or significant experience of working within data and information provision, to include libraries, information centres or research services.- Experience of public sector procurement- Experience mentoring and coaching less experienced colleagues.- Experience of marketing and internal communications.- Experience of business analysis.- Interest in financial services regulation.

The job grade for this role is Senior Associate - Regulatory- The salary range in London is up to £65,000 per annum plus a competitive benefits package, including a non-contributory pension- The salary range in Edinburgh & Leeds is up to £58,500 per annum plus a competitive benefits package, including a non-contributory pension
