    Job description:

The Information Support Officer Assistant Developer is a member of the Chief Digital Information Officer (CDIO) team and works to the Information Support Officer Developer (ISO-Dev).

The ISO-Assistant Dev is responsible for facilitating and enabling collaborative and effective ways of working across the Higher-Level Budget (HLB), primarily through the development, modification and maintenance of HQ Defence Medical Services (DMS) SharePoint Team sites and the Defence Gateway DMS SharePoint Site.


The ISO-Assistant Dev, in conjunction with the ISO-Dev, will liaise closely with DMS and business unit stakeholders to identify innovation opportunities and develop supporting solutions, utilising SharePoint, Office 365 or other web-based functionality as appropriate, taking full advantage of new technologies as and when they become available.

The use of basic Hyper Text Markup Language (HTML) and JavaScript will occasionally be needed.

The post holder will lead on routine SharePoint administrative duties, guiding the Site Collection Administrator (SCA) community and ensuring that regular data audits and maintenance tasks are carried out.

The post holder will be responsible for ensuring compliance with applicable elements of the DMS Information Directive and the DMS Information Management Plan.


Person specification:


  • The duties of the role include, but are not limited to:
  • Assist users/Site Collection Administrators to enable the effective use of SharePoint functionality.
  • Maintain the DMS SharePoint Team Sites in accordance with Ministry of Defence (MOD) policy, local and Top Level Budget (TLB) direction.
  • Provide advice and technical guidance on requests for new SharePoint sites and other webbased business supporting functionality.
  • Assist with the design, development and continuous improvement of new SharePoint/Office365(O365)based technical solutions to improve ways of working.
  • Working with predefined stakeholders, assist in the development of DMS presence on the Defence Gateway SharePoint site in accordance with MOD/TLB policy and local direction.
