The role

We are seeking a keen individual who would like to make a great start in their journey as an animal care assistant.

Some experience within the veterinary field would be ideal, however no experience is essential as training will be provided.

We value a motivated, keen individual with the right attitude to the role more and you must strive to demonstrate these skills.

You will be employed as a Patient Care Assistant who will work alongside a branch partner, 2 other veterinary surgeons, a very experienced Head nurse and two other RVN's who will support and guide you through your nursing journey.

Your role will include reception and client facing duties, admin, assisting vets and nurses with restraining of patients, inpatient care, assisting with anaesthetics, cleaning and lab work.

Oakengates have great facilities and is a multi vet practice, which makes it a close knit, very organised team.

The practice is linked to a 24 hour main centre which is in Shrewsbury which has the state of the art facilities, including a CT scanner and hydrotherapy unit

43 hours a week

Skills and experience
Essential requirements

Confident communicator, both verbally and in writing
Friendly and personable attitude, with an empathetic approach
Passionate about the care and welfare of animals
Alternative qualifications e.g., Veterinary Care Assistant Certificate, Animal Nursing Assistant Award or National Diploma in Animal Care will be accepted when supported with full Level 2 qualifications in Maths and English i.e., Level 2 Functional Skills or GCSE at grade C or above.
