About the Role
Barnes Logistics Ltd is one of the UK's leading providers of logístical support. We have 7 sites nationwide, a fleet of over 90 vehicles, and 120 employees. This role is based in our busy Rochdale depot, which is a modern, progressive and expanding site.
We provide both general haulage and just in time (JIT) transport for some of the world's largest companies, including leading global parcel carriers.
The Rochdale site also houses both our Head Office and our 50,000 sq ft modern racked warehouse.It is an exciting time to join Barnes.

Responsibilities
- To contribute to all aspects of daytoday transport operations. Working flexibly with the team and under the guidance of the Transport Supervisor and management team.
- Daily transport planning of between 40 and 50 drivers, across two depots.
- Answering incoming calls from drivers, colleagues and customers in a helpful and professional manner.
- Driver management, including briefing and debriefing, driver training, meetings and reviews.
- Compliance administration e.g. booking servicing, monitoring infringements / defects, and driver hours management.
- Daily administration e.g. scanning and checking proof of deliveries (PODs), adding jobs onto the system, and general admin.
- A flexible and supportive approach to responsibilities, including a willingness to cover and help out with ad hoc duties as and when required.
- Commuting as and when required e.g. to other Barnes sites, to transport drivers to nearby service sites to collect company lorries. Driving company vehicles as and when required.
Requirements:
- 12 years' experience desirable, but not essential as training will be given.
- Clean driving licence essential.
- GCSE Maths and English at Grade C/4 preferable.
- An awareness of transport planning and compliance would be advantageous.
- Strong organisational skills.
- Strong IT skills e.g. Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook.
- Supportive and helpful team player. Motivated and proactive. Willingness to learn.
- Ability to remain calm and organised under pressure.
- Experience of using transport management systems desirable but not essential.
Benefits
- A generous starting salary of between £28,000£30,000, dependent on experience.
- 28 days paid holiday per annum, increasing up to 33 days with length of service.

- Monday-Friday, 06:0015:00.
- Flexibility and occasional shift cover required.
