Our Family Safeguarding multi-disciplinary teams are based on Campus in the town centre and we work with children and families to help and support them in change.


The purpose of the teams is to tackle the impact of abuse and neglect from within the family on children's welfare and where appropriate, to promote the upbringing of children by their families.

The Family Safeguarding Teams use a Motivational Interviewing model of practice in their work.

This is designed to empower and engage parents to make the positive changes needed to achieve improved outcomes for their children and their own wellbeing.

They use a range of Family Program Modules within the FS Workbook to effect change.

Family Safeguarding Teams are co - located multidisciplinary teams consisting of social work professionals and adult workers.

Their aim is to work collaboratively with the right families, at the right time, respecting families' rights, following guidance and law.

They take a whole family approach to child protection to keep more children safely at home with their families.

  • FS teams usually consist of:
  • Team Manager
  • Social Workers
  • Children Practitioners
  • Domestic Abuse Practitioners
  • Domestic Abuse Officers
  • Recovery workers (Drug and Alcohol)
  • Mental Health Practitioners and Psychologists
  • Support Officers
Main Areas of Responsibility

  • Duties may involve a combination of the following tasks:
  • Utilise software packages such as Microsoft Office, preparation of letters and documentation according to local procedures and statutory/ legal requirements.
  • Update and manage computer databases and spreadsheets, provide reports and assist in compiling information such as statutory returns, manage and track expenditure, uploading of documents to our in house systems.
  • Book Family Safeguarding Group Case and Personal Supervisions.
  • Minute Family Safeguarding Group Case Supervisions.
  • Type case supervisions onto Care Director once Workbook case supervision has been assigned.
  • Provide professional support to Senior Officers and Managers dealing with confidential and sensitive matters, answer telephone calls and provide information as a first point of contact.
  • Undertake a range of administrative duties such as note and minute taking, electronic filing, scanning and photocopying and deal with all general matters including cash handling, correspondence, invoices and timesheets according to local procedures
  • Send out various communications to the team including duty rotas.
  • Manage team commitments avoiding scheduling conflicts and arrange meetings and training courses, venues, agendas.
The duties and responsibilities listed above describe the post as it is at present. The post holder is expected to accept any reasonable alterations that may from time to time be necessary.

Person Specification

  • Although there are no specific qualifications required for this role previous experience in service delivery or a business related qualification would be beneficial.
  • You will be a competent administrator with experience of using Microsoft Office who is confident to be the first point of contact for Managers and possess excellent customer care skills.
  • You will be highly organized, selfmotivated, professional and approachable providing excellent team support and best practice at all times.
  • You must be willing to undertake a variety of administrative tasks, operating within departmental policies and procedures. Produce court reports and other documents as required. You will be used to working to tight deadlines and with high accuracy. Experience in taking minutes to a high standard is also essential.


You must be fluent in the English language (as a requirement of Part 7 of the Immigration Act - for the effective performance of a customer-facing role).
