The successful new Senior Cost Controller's duties will include:
Financial management of all overhead departments within Assystem Energy and Infrastructure. This role also covers Finance Business Partnering for Assystem subsidiaries including risk consultancy businesses in London and India.

Overheads

  • Work in conjunction with overhead department heads to ensure maximum profitability by challenging spend and headcount to identify and deliver opportunities.
  • Lead monthly overhead reviews to discuss and review costs in month plus the upcoming 3month expected spend. Ensure overhead cost owners understand the cost drivers in their area and are accountable and empowered to influence them.
  • Lead all overhead month end reporting including presentation materials for CFO and MD review. This includes explanations of under and overspends in the period and expected future performance against budget.
  • Work closely with the accounting department to ensure quality of the financial data. In particular, managing accruals and prepayments of overhead costs at the month end.
  • Create and maintain Budget / Forecasts templates and help Overhead teams to complete them.
  • Consolidate & make preliminary review of Overhead Budgets & Forecasts for CFO review.
  • Bridge budget /forecast to latest comparator including narrative on investments, overhead strategy and drivers for variances.
Business Partnering

  • Act as Finance
  • Controlling point of contact for two independent risk consultancy businesses owned by Assystem (one based in London, one based in India).
  • Understand the entire arc of these businesses and how productivity impacts profitability.
  • Plan and lead annual budgeting and forecast cycles, including full ownership of timetables, templates, and final deliverables.
  • Manage forecasting models to ensure they are reconciled to actuals and correctly populated.
  • Produce presentation materials and work closing with Operations Managers to ensure a quality review
  • Review the profitability of projects and ensure revenue is correctly recognised in the accounts each month.
  • Produce monthly financial management information for review, including P&L variances against latest forecast
  • Ensure pricing tools used are fit for purpose and defendable against audit.
  • Support the improvement of financial acumen amongst Project Managers and Business Leaders in order to maximise results.

MY PROFILE

  • ACCA/CIMA Qualified / Part Qualified (or equivalent)
    or qualified by experience
  • Relevant experience; 25 years minimum:
  • Experience of budgeting and forecasting, particularly challenging stakeholders on the robustness of their forecast
  • Experience financially managing overhead cost centres
  • Experience of financially managing P&Ls
  • Experience of computerised accounting systems necessary; knowledge of IFS will be valuable but is not essential
  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills and experience in data manipulation
  • You must be eligible to work in UK.

  • Ability to communicate complex finance information clearly and concisely to a nonfinance audience.
  • Ability to balance various priorities and deadlines to deliver both aspects of this role in an autonomous way
  • Continuous improvement mindset and an appetite to identify the root causes of issues or inefficiencies and embed change.
  • Comfortable working remotely with stakeholders with diverse backgrounds
  • High level of attention to detail

Job Location
Hybrid details: 2 days a week in the office, the remaining 3 can be worked from home.
