The Opportunity
We are looking for a forward-thinking, personable, energetic self-motivated individual for this
12-Month fixed term contract to cover maternity leave to join our HR Service Team
This role will be responsible for managing the HR Service Team in ensuring a timely and accurate HR service across the full employee lifecycle.
The role entails direct management responsibility for the team, and on occasion, will be expected to deputise for the HR Systems and Services Manager.
This is a highly visible and responsible role delivering a comprehensive service that meets the needs of the business whilst also coordinating the priorities and the workload of the team and continuously seeking opportunities for improvement.
With our aim to be a flexible employer, this role offers hybrid office and home working, ideally you will be based within a commutable distance of our Birmingham Office.
What you will be doing
- Ensuring that processes are completed in a timely manner to meet key deadlines and business requirements across the full employee lifecycle
- Providing general HR administrative support where required
- Developing the teams' skills and knowledge
- Developing and maintaining strong relationships with internal stakeholders e.g. Pensions Team, Finance, Fleet, and Management
- Ensuring standard operating procedures and associated documentation is kept up to date and are fit for purpose
- Regularly cleansing and auditing employee data ensuring that the HR system (iTrent) is kept up to date
- Work with other internal departments to regularly check that processes are working as they should be
- Identifying and suggesting process improvements and following these through to completion
- Undertake project work, as directed by the HR Systems and Services Manager
- Deputise for the HR Systems and Services Manager as and when required
- Be responsible for bulk processes, such as the annual salary review, utilising the Microsoft Excel and Word
- Support with the collation and manipulation of data, demonstrating awareness of HR metrics
- Liaison with outsourced payroll provider to ensure accurate and timely processing

Essential
- Oral communication
- Speaks clearly, fluently and confidently to both individuals and groups
- Written communication
- Writes in a clear and concise manner, using appropriate grammar, style and language for the reader
- HR experience, and a good understanding of HR policy and procedures
- Good attention to detail and accuracy
- Strong customer service focus
- Well organised, with ability to work to tight deadlines
- Ability to work well in a team and to work on own initiative
- Strong understanding and respect for confidentiality
- Experience supporting and coaching others
- Use and understanding of HR systems
Desirable
- Payroll experience
- Experience in using the iTrent HR system
- Compliance experience (such as right to work)
- Line management experience
