Key Aim of the Role:


  • Provide support on management of the Technical Department to contribute to the smooth operations to the business objectives and targets and in accordance with our quality, BRC, Customer and Safety Standards.
  • Support and work with the Technical Compliance team to ensure product are manufactured to high standards to meet all agreed internal and external specifications.
  • Maintain & support a robust internal and 3rd party auditing programme that continues to meet the requirements set by BRC and our customer requirements
  • Work with the Technical Director and Technical teams on continual improvement and moving forward all aspects of the business.
  • Be customer facing on all technical issues and support the commercial & sourcing teams
  • To conduct and coordinate project work to support and develop the current technical systems.
  • Highly communicative and keeping exposure to all the functions of the technical department, interacting with other departments.
  • Support on collating and managing supplier due diligence to carry out approval process as quickly and effectively as possible.
  • Conduct overseas and UK audits and visits follow up on nonconformances, corrective actions and frequency based on requirements.
  • Support UK Growing sites with Global Gap, Red Tractor, GRASP, LEAF audits.
  • Predominantly for your customer accounts but also supporting other Customer accounts. Requirements according to UK/EU pesticide legislation. Requirements described in the Food Safety Act 1090. Evidence of Good Agricultural Practices by Suppliers. Ethicaltrading by suppliers.
  • Working with buyers to complete new supplier approvals.

Main Duties & Responsibilities:


  • Support the Site TM, and compliance team on site quality & safety management systems, maintain and review to achieve continuous improvement by being an active member of our HACCP, TACCP and operational team meetings.
  • Maintain & move forward high standards of product safety, legality & quality assurance from the Grower, supply chain, goods intake & through packing and despatch of the product.
  • Key point of contact for internal & external business customers regarding technical matters.
  • Support & lead (if applicable to Customer responsibility) site audits as BRC, Red Tractor, Organic Soil Association, and customer compliance audits.
  • Being up to date with Customer requirements and implement new policies and procedures, as necessary.
  • Lead HACCP Team ensuring the documentation is current and reviewed annually. Individual must be trained to HACCP level
  • Working closely with other technical functions on Group projects to align one Quality plan and procedures as a mainstream.
  • Overall responsibility for the product specifications against customer requirements, ensuring the maintenance of current data.
  • Drive Innovation, new product development and Strategy within the customers and take the lead of driving continual improvement.
  • Maintain Customer KPI's, action plans and use initiative and experience to drive on the relationship with customers and help support and Grow with those key accounts.
