RPS is looking for a
Project Controller to join our Technical Consultancy team.

Our team has been selected as the lead Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) and Habitat Regulation Assessment (HRA) consultant for some of the offshore wind industry's major "firsts".

Our experience includes 20 years at the forefront of the offshore wind industry, working across the UK, wider Europe, America, Australia and Asia.

What you'll be doing


The Project Controller will provide strong project governance (both internal and external) to help deliver our projects to client expectations and within agreed budgets and timescales.


This role will be responsible for the full remit of project controls and you will be responsible for managing and controlling cost estimates, actuals and forecasts, variations, and programmes updates across a portfolio of projects valuing between approx.

£500,000 - £5 million per project.

This role will give you great exposure to all elements of project controls and you will be working with an experienced team to help develop your skills and support your delivery on these projects.

This role will be regularly reporting to our Technical Consultancy Project Manager and the Client to keep them up to date on project status.

Proposals and bids
  • Input into the financial element of proposals, working with the bid team, Commercial Manager and technical consultancy team.

Project controls execution support
  • Manage complex projects throughout the project lifecycle including:

Contract Management:


  • Produce and manage subcontractor agreements and associated variations.
  • Input into contract variations, working with the technical consultancy team.

Cost Management:


  • Define and establish a robust work breakdown structure.
  • Manage project budgets (including fixed, time and expense, and capped budgets).
  • Manage change systems, including variations, and facilitate project risk management processes.
  • Analyse spend to date and forecast to actively evaluate potential risks.
  • Financial control including invoicing, cash flow management and budget control.
  • Setup and update internal and external progress reporting tools.

Programme Management

  • Contributes to the Project Execution Plan.
  • Track and monitor project schedules, and analyse the impacts of changes on project timelines.

Who we're looking for

  • You will have some experience in project controls and willing to further develop your skills in this area.
  • You will be interested in all aspects of project controls including cost estimating, variations and programmes updates.
  • You will have strong IT skills and be a strong Excel user to manage high quantity of data. You may already have some exposure to working with Microsoft Project or Power BI.
  • You may be interested in getting further qualifications in Project Management, such as APM PMQ (Association of Project Managers Project Management Qualification) or PMP (Project Management Professional). We can support you in this journey.
  • You will be proactive, as no two days are the same in this role. You won't be satisfied with the status quo and will take the initiative to challenge and develop new ideas.
