This a 12 month Fixed Term Contract with the opportunity for a permanent position.


You will received a full induction and be fully supported through a Business Administration SCQF Level 6 SVQ as well as receive any in-house/NHS training.

Your communication, time management and organisational skills will all be developed.


To ensure that the reception area of the Practice runs smoothly, receive, assist and direct patient to access the appropriate service or healthcare professional in courteous efficient and effective way.

Provides a high level of service to patients, doctors, nurses and other members of the Practice team.

Duties and responsibilities will include dealing with telephone enquiries and make appointments, taking requests for prescriptions, giving out results, ambulance transport bookings, home visit requests, dealing with general enquiries explain procedures and deal with complaints, contacting other providers.

Reception duties will include register new patients and temporary residents, greeting and direct patients and visitors, making appointments, handing out prescriptions, ensuring outstanding queries are explained and handed over to next shift, as necessary, responding to needs of doctors and nurses during surgery, collecting payments from patients for non-NHS services, dealing with general enquiries and complaints.

Administrative duties to include inputting and extract information from Practice computer system, liaising with hospital and other community departments, processing all incoming and outgoing mail, reports results using electronic filing system, actioning and send, electronic communication and provide photocopying services, maintaining database in accurate and secure manner.

Prescriptions will need help with dealing with requests for repeat prescriptions, raising prescriptions as per Practice protocols, dealing with queries relating to repeat prescriptions.

General duties; observing health and safety guidelines at all times, general housekeeping (e.g. keeping reception and waiting areas tidy), making refreshments for doctors and other team members, participate in washing up, and any other reasonable duties as necessary.

£9.50 per hour
