  • This is an exciting opportunity to join the East Midlands Regulated Industry department and be part of our Regulatory Support Officer team.
We regulate a range of permitted sites to ensure compliance with the Environmental Permitting Regulations. We also undertake pollution incident response and investigation.

You'll facilitate the delivery of a wide range of administrative and compliance activities and enable our regulatory teams to secure positive outcomes for people and the environment.

This role underpins our departmental performance and will be extremely varied.
Working closely with other teams and departments, you can expect to be involved in the following:

  • Acting as an initial point of contact, communicating and filtering information for the team
  • Maintaining data and information systems, ensuring our records are up to date, accessible and stored appropriately to facilitate team activities
  • Contributing to a range of compliance and enforcement activities for the team
  • Helping the team protect and collect the income we receive from permit fees and charges
  • Handling and storing confidential information
  • Maintaining essential team equipment
  • Collating and providing information requested by internal and external customers
  • Taking part in incident management.


  • The team

  • The East Midlands Regulated Industry Team is responsible for the regulation of a large number of sites and activities that require environmental permits.

These permits cover a wide range of waste activities, industrial processes and places that use and dispose of radioactive substances.

You will be based at the Nottingham Trentside Office.

  • Experience/skills required
  • Ideally, you'll be educated to Alevel standard (or equivalent).
Through your experience to date you should be able to demonstrate some of the following:
