You'll join our field team as a Metre Reading Field Officer, working out in the community to confirm property residency, verify the accuracy of water supply data and assisting in the resolution of metre reading issues and queries to enable appropriate billing.

You're self-motivated, organised, and dedicated to helping customers find the finest solutions. You'll have great communication skills and prior experience engaging with customers in person. You are comfortable with IT systems and numerical reasoning, and you can update systems and assist with billing inquiries. Previous experience working with consumer debt in a empathetic way is ideal.

As a vital 24 / 7 service provider, you must be adaptable in order to support out-of-hours when incidents arise.


As a member of the field team, you will attend customer appointments, conduct site inspections to check metering problems, assist with outstanding payments and investigate high consumption queries.

You'll work with our customer service team and strategy to assess affordability, create relationships with local authorities and community partners and attend events.

What will you mainly be responsible for delivering?

  • Visiting customers in their homes to establish their circumstances and discuss their account situation.
  • Understanding sensitive domestic matters, household budgeting and other issues affecting customers' ability to pay
  • Investigative site visits with a determination to resolve longrunning queries to facilitate repayment plans.
  • Monitor meter reading services of outsourced supplier for customer billing and company data monitoring.
  • Inspect new domestic services for correct setup for meters and installations and/or in response to questions or complaints and the water service.
  • Read and investigate high consumption queries and make periodic inspections of other water meter installations.
  • Relaying accurate information promptly to office based colleagues.
  • Liaising with local authorities and other external organisations.
  • Travelling throughout our supply area to assist with recovery activities.
  • Travelling throughout our supply area to assist with various inhouse activities including billing, recovery and void properties

What do you bring to the role?

  • Selfmotivated, organised and determined to resolve customer queries.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Previous experience engaging with customers face to face.
  • Confident with IT systems.
  • Good numeracy skills to understand household budgeting.
  • Experience dealing with consumer debt would be preferable.
  • Flexible to support out of hours incidents.
  • A full, clean driving licence is required.
  • A satisfactory background check is required to attend customer properties.
