About us

Motorway is the UK's fastest-growing used car marketplace — our online-only platform connects private car sellers with thousands of verified dealers nationwide, ensuring everyone gets the best deal.

Founded in 2017, our award-winning, technology-led approach has redefined the experience of selling a car, generating thousands of monthly car sales and helping us to grow to a team of over 400 across 4 locations.

Motorway is now valued at over $1 billion and is backed by some of the world's leading technology investors, having raised £143 million in Series C funding.

This is a unique opportunity to join a fast-growing scale-up at a crucial phase of growth and help change an industry for the better.

What you'll be doing:

  • You will work in our growing Editorial Department (reporting to the Editor, and working alongside the other Brand Copywriters), where you'll receive clear briefs, and respond to them with unique, compelling copy that enhances the experience of our customers and partners.
  • Most of your core focus will be writing and researching highconversion copy for campaigns, plus editing copy created by fellow writers across the business.
  • Working with the CRM Managers, you'll support the development of content for car sellers and dealers.
  • You will also craft and edit copy for use on our website, mobile app, brand communications, social media, PR, and our partners.
  • Your copy and content will consistently be adherent to best practices for CRM and SEO. At times, quick turnarounds will be required so an ability to deliver at pace will be key.
  • Your copy will always be to the highest standards being accurate, wellresearched, and incorporating customer insight.
  • You'll take feedback well, and work to build an understanding of the messaging that is central to Motorway's commercial proposition.
  • You will actively continue to build your knowledge of the automotive industry and the used car market, taking advantage of inhouse learning opportunities.
  • You'll ensure you have robust customer and competitor awareness, so that Motorway always remains relevant, distinct, and competitive in the market.

Requirements:

  • Experience creating relevant brand and customerfocused copy, executed across a variety of marketing channels and touchpoints, with demonstrable evidence of the positive impact your writing has had, e.g. on improving brand awareness, engagement, ROI, etc.
  • Experience of writing in a digitallynative brand voice.
  • Strong customer and commercial focus, determined to create value for our customers, brand, and business.
  • An excellent communicator, a strong relationship builder, and stakeholder manager, with an ability to simplify complexity and take people with you.
  • An ability to respond to shortterm requests as well as planned work, prioritising your workload and managing briefs.
  • Enthusiasm to join a growing team that collaborates with every department in the company.
  • Experience or interest in the car industry and working for a tech company is preferred, but not essential.
