Job description

We are looking for one hardworking individual to help part-time with our family-run licensed breeding kennel. You will be self-employed and will be required to take charge of your own taxes.
This is perfect for someone who is passionate about working with animals and want to get some hands-on experience.


About The Role:
We are a family, run business, mainly breeding French Bulldogs and Pomeranians. All of our dogs live in the house and have dedicated rooms where they are kept. Part of the responsibility will include keeping the rooms clean.

This is a part-time role for around 100 hours a month minimum and you will be paid above minimum wage at £10.50 (over Over 21) £ an hour.

The number of hours per day and days of work will vary from week to week. We can be flexible with your work schedule and your other commitments.

You will either work mostly morning shift (around 5 hours) and an occasional evening shift and occasional on-call availability and night shifts might be required during births.

Duties include:

• Cleaning dog rooms, indoor dog pens, puppy toilets
• Wash dog bedding, dog bowls etc.
• Feeding the dogs correct food and according to dietary requirements
• Administering medication and deworming
• Cleaning and washing outside areas
• Washing the dogs and basic grooming (will be trained)
• Occasional support with births
• Bottle feeding puppies when necessary
• Drive dogs to veterinary appointments when necessary (petrol will be paid)

Requirements:

• Clean UK driving license and access to own car
• Must be extremely reliable and comfortable to be left alone with the dogs on a rare occasion
• Able to follow instructions and learn on the job
• General understanding of dog behaviour and positive training methods
• Ability to recognise through observation changes in dogs behaviour and health
• Confidence to work alone as well as in a team
• Flexibility during the working day and working hours
• Open to night shifts and sleepovers if necessary
• Being on call during births and available for emergencies (usually we will give you a few days notice, but occasionally only 24 hours notice when unexpected births happen)
• Physically fit as this work can be physically demanding.

Part-time hours: 23 per week


Salary:
£7.49-£10.42 per hour
