An unusual opportunity for an experienced Finance Assistant to become part of a small finance team at one of North Shropshire's oldest private schools near Oswestry and which has strong values of scholarship, fun and humanity at the heart of all that itdoes.

As the new Finance Assistant, you will:

  • Manage the bookings and payment process for the school's Holiday clubhouse
  • Invoice termly fees to parents and respond to queries, making adjustments where necessary
  • Deal with general questions
  • Process bank transactions on a daily basis, produce weekly bank reconciliations and undertake regular petty cash reconciliations
  • Assist with the monthly payroll process including verifying timesheets, reports, and journaling
  • Manage the Summer School finance and admin process as required, liaising with other colleagues as needed
  • Manage ad hoc accounts tasks as needed

To be the successful Finance Assistant, you:

  • Will be an experienced finance generalist across the key accounting areas of sales, purchase and nominal ledger
  • payroll useful but not essential
  • Have worked, or are working, with Excel and accounting software
  • Oasis and Pegasus payroll would be great
  • Are a confident and friendly communicator at all levels and calm under pressure
  • Understand compliance and its importance in business, ideally within a school environment
  • Are naturally helpful and supportive in how you work
  • Have a willingness to learn and sound attention to the detail
  • Would like to work three days a week or the equivalent of
  • Have your own transport essential due to location
